Rita Smith Rimmer, 78, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at AnMed Health Medical Center of heart failure. She is now with her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven.

Born in Anderson, SC, on September 27, 1939, she was the daughter of the late James Dawson and Annie Reid Chapman Smith. She grew up in Pendleton, SC and was a member of the Pendleton High School Class of 1957. She was the first Miss Landmark; Pendleton High School’s very first beauty pageant queen and was also the 1956 and 1957 Homecoming Queen.

She attended Queens College and graduated from the University of Alabama with a Master’s in Speech Therapy. She was a speech pathologist with Anderson School District 5 for 10 years.

She was a force of nature with a vivacious personality! She was funny, talkative, generous and loving. She was very fond of animals, especially her beloved pug, Tipper. She adored her husband David and he adored her, she was the light of David’s life.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. David Arthur Rimmer, DC and four daughters. Michelle Marchesse, of Anderson SC, Jena Seibert (Kurt) of Matthews, NC, Tina Cothran (Todd) of Anderson, SC and Susan Reid of Hamilton, NY. She is also survived by two granddaughters, Kennedie Dye (Eric), of Greenville, SC and Kacie Cothran of Anderson, SC; brother Jim Smith (Marjorie) of Pendleton, SC and sister, Deanne Smith of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by her former husbands, Charles C Turner of Northport, AL and Paul Marchese of Tampa, FL.

The family will receive friends at the Sosebee Mortuary South Chapel on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 2pm to 3pm.

The memorial service will be held at 3pm in the Sosebee Mortuary South Chapel following the visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, 801 Bamboo Road, Boone, NC 28607.
