Jim Sosebee

Owner –Funeral Director/Embalmer

Jim Sosebee resides in Anderson and is a graduate of South Carolina’s only ABFSE accredited Funeral Service Education program. He is dual-licensed in South Carolina as both a Funeral Director and Embalmer. Jim retired after 32 years of service in the Fire Department serving multiple counties throughout the state. He is also a veteran of the US Army. Jim attends Gethsemane Baptist Temple and has four children and three grandsons.


Rob C. Sosebee

Manager – Funeral Director/Embalmer
Manager – Sosebee Cremation Services

Rob resides in Iva and is the youngest son of Jim Sosebee.  Rob is married to Allison Roberts from Simpsonville, SC.  Rob graduated with honors from South Carolina’s only ABFSE accredited Funeral Service Education program in 2006. He serves as Manager of both locations, Manager of Sosebee Cremation Services, and is dual-licensed in South Carolina as a Funeral Director and Embalmer.
In his spare time Rob is an avid costumer that participates in many children’s charity events and fundraisers throughout the year.


Billie Sosebee McCarter

Chief Financial Officer – Funeral Director

Billie Sosebee McCarter resides in the Lowndesville Community and is married to Matthew. She is the oldest daughter of Jim Sosebee. A graduate of Dixie High School, she attended Lander University, graduated from Piedmont Technical College Kappa Beta Delta with a A.S. in Business in 2006, Funeral Service Education Certificate in 2010, and her A.A.S. in Funeral Services in 2016. She is a South Carolina Licensed Funeral Director.  Billie is also the Manager of South Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Billie and Matthew married in 2005 and have 3 dogs: Scarlett,  Rhett, and Bonnie.  They are members of Lowndesville Baptist Church, where they serve on several committees and work with the youth and children.  They are Diamond Life Sponsors with the National Wild Turkey Federation.
Billie has a passion for the outdoors.  She is on ProStaff for PhaZe for Her, Pistol Creek Outdoors, and ALPS Outdoorz, Shooting Staff for Bohning Archery, Easton Archery ProTeam Member, and a Tactacam Team Member. She volunteers with The Outdoor Dream Foundation and is a Mentor and volunteer with the NWTF.


Louise Sosebee 

Administrative Assistant

Louise is the youngest daughter of Jim and resides in Fountain Inn, SC.  She is a 2006 graduate of Dixie High School where she was very active in cross country, basketball, and track. She enjoys outings with her three boys, Godric Nathaneal, Gabriel James, and Ian Thomas.  In her free time, she enjoys playing a variety of musical instruments.


Alyssa Hart Whitfield

Administrative Assistant

Alyssa is a 2013 graduate of Crescent High School and married to her husband, Justin, since 2014.  They have a beautiful fun loving daughter and a beautiful bouncing baby boy.  They reside in the Ebenezer community and enjoy spending time with their children.  They are members at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church.
She has been with Sosebee Mortuary for several years working exclusively in filing death certificates and helping families file their insurance.
In her free time, in addition to spoiling her son and daughter, she loves the outdoors, photography, and enjoys spending time with her nieces.


Matthew D. McCarter

Maintenance Supervisor

Matthew is married to Billie and is the son of Roger McCarter of Lowndesville and Jane Hanley of Piedmont. He is a graduate of Calhoun Falls High School and has a degree Building Construction and Industrial Technologies. Matthew is a veteran of the U.S. Military serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Matthew and Billie have been married since 2005, have three dogs, and are members of Lowndesville Baptist Church. Matthew is an avid outdoorsmen who loves to fish, enjoys attending Gamecock Athletics events as well as carpentry in his free time.
He is a member of Masonic Lodge #34, and a Diamond Life Sponsor with the NWTF.


Billy Ray Whitmire

Funeral Assistant

Billy Ray Whitmire is an important part of the Sosebee Mortuary family. He has been with the company prior to Jim taking ownership in 2006. Billy Ray resides in Starr and is married to Debra Whitmire. He is very active in his church at Middleton Road Baptist as well as in his local community. He is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and enjoys golfing and fishing in his free time. He is a very proud papa and loves to spend time with his three grandchildren.


Garrett Hart

Funeral Assistant

Garrett Hart is a resident of the Level Land Community in Abbeville, SC.  He is married to Crystal Brewster Hart and they have two children:  Alyssa (Justin) and Austin.  He is a new papa G to his granddaughter Ashlyn and his grandson RS.
Garrett is a ordained minister and is the pastor at Little River Baptist Church.  He is a graduate of Oakwood Christian School and a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education from Savannah Valley Bible College.  He is currently working on Masters Degree from Covington Theological Seminary.  In his free time he enjoys being a papa and golfing.


Jeff Fultz

Funeral Assistant

Jeff Fultz was originally from Mentor, Ohio.  Upon graduating High School, he enlisted in the Marine Corps serving for 30 years;  10 years enlisted, 10 years as a Chief Warrant Officer, and 10 years as an Officer retiring as a Major from Okinawa Japan in 2009.  During his long career, he served on multiple naval ships in both the pacific and Mediterranean. He also served with the state department in Africa and Europe.  He has multiple Combat tours in both Desert Storm, and Iraq.  After settling in Due West, he started work at the VA office in Abbeville County.  Jeff went to work as the Superintendent of the M.J. “Dolly” Cooper State Veterans Cemetery in March of 2013 and retired in 2020.

Jeff has been married to Melanie for 33 years.  They have 2 daughters, Brittany whom served in the Air Force, and is now a Respiratory Therapist at Duke Medical, and Morgan who is a Sergeant in the South Carolina National Guardsman, and a Radiographer here in the upstate.


Dalton Gibson

Funeral Assistant

Dalton is a graduate of Crescent High School.  He is a volunteer firefighter at Flat Rock Bowen Fire Department and attends Middleton Road Baptist Church.  He loves spending time with his family, and all things outdoors including hunting and fishing.
