Omer “Gene” E. Sanders, 75 of Starr, SC passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2017 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Elberton, Ga, he was the son of the late Hoyt Sanders and Mildred Teasley Sanders and the spouse to Barbara D. Strickland.
Gene attended Union Baptist Church and served in the Georgia National Guard.
In addition to his spouse, he is survived by a son: Keith Strickland, daughters: Kristie Sanders Brock (Stephen), Deidre Burgess (Jim) and Tama Riggins (Rick) and grandchildren: Josh, Andrea, Jon, Casey, Amber and Brianna, and 9 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a brother Cortez Sanders.
A Memorial service will take place at Union Baptist Church on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 2pm with Rev. Mike McMillion officiating.
Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church from 1pm to 2pm.
The family will be at their respective homes.
The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory Iva Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
