John Thomas Eskew, Sr., age 61, of Honea Path, SC, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at the Rainey Hospice House.
Born April 18, 1964, in Anderson, SC., he was the son of the late Paul Eskew and Joy Ford. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Ben Ford and three brothers, William Eskew, Mark Ford, and his brother and best friend in the world, Mark Eskew.
Thomas went to Westside High School and worked at the Walmart Distribution center in Laurens for 28 years until he retired in 2016. Thomas loved all things hunting and fishing. He loved golf, old cars, trucks and riding Harleys with his friends. He was an avid deer hunter with hundreds of deer under his belt. He also had the biggest deer, and he let everyone know that they would never kill one that big or even ever see one that big probably. Chances are if you were a friend of his, you have enjoyed one or all of these things with him.
Thomas loved his family and he loved his friends dearly. The family had the privilege of watching many of his friends, old and new, come and surround him in his last month of life on earth and he loved it. We would never try to name you all because we may leave someone out, but you know who you are and it meant the world to him for you all to be there. He loved you all so much, deeply. We know that Thomas transitioned from this life straight into the presence of God and can only imagine the reunion that was waiting for him.
Thomas is survived by his ex-wife but still close and special friend, Lorraine Eskew, who has been by his side until the very end; sons: Brandon Eskew and John Thomas Eskew, Jr.; daughters: Brittany Eskew and Serenity Eskew; stepdaughter, Heather Rich(Adam); grandchildren: McKalla Bell, Brantley Eskew, Brayden Eskew, Nash Rich, Landon Saxon, Ethan Maness, JT Eskew, Lainey Rae Eskew; great granddaughter, Evara Lynn Eskew; a great grandson due in May; sisters: Crystal Tarbuck(Greg), Paula Eskew Hill, Dana Frank(Rick): sister in law, Michelle Eskew; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
His Aunt Jana held a special place in his heart. She was his saving grace after his beloved brother, Mark, died in April. She not only helped with the heartbreak of losing him but spiritual things as well.
The receiving of friends will be held at Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory from 11:00 am -1:00 pm on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. Services will follow at 1:00 pm with Dr. Steve Silvey officiating, in the Mortuary chapel. Burial will follow at the New Silverbrook Cemetery.
The family will be at their respective homes and ask that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rainey Hospice House.
The family would like to thank the chaplain, and all the nurses and staff at the Rainey Hospice House. You all made his last days extra special. You are all angels on earth!
