Major Lee Brown, 84, of Iva, SC, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at the Rainey Hospice House.
Born on February 15, 1942, he was the son of the late Charles Brown and Willie Lee Green Brown and husband to Dale Maxwell Brown. Major was a long-time employee of Duke Energy as a Nuclear Maintenance Technician Supervisor and a lifetime member and Deacon of Asaville Baptist Church. He was a devoted family man and employee of Duke Energy. Major received many awards along the way, including the Chairman’s Award. He was a jack of all trades, car enthusiast, skilled mechanic, and auxiliary police office in Iva during his younger years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his Son: Tony Lee Brown (Jackie); Sister: Cola McGill; Son-in-law: Bill McKellar; Grandchildren: Stephanie Snow (Bubba), Julianna Tucker (Justin), and Quinton Brown (Savannah); Great-grandchildren: Railynn Snow, Gabe Parks, Summer Snow, Elliott Brown, and Olivia Tucker; as well as his loved little puppy; Tracy.
He is also preceded in death by his Son: Tony Randall Brown; Daughter: Sherry Lynn McKellar; Brothers: Wink Brown and Jerry Brown; and Sister: Pat Martin; as well as his parents, Charles and Willie Lee Brown.
Major’s Going Home service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Asaville Baptist Church and will be officiated by Rev. DeWayne Evans and Rev. Charlie Howell Jr. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 1:30pm to 2pm, prior to the service Thursday, at the church. Following the service, the family will share a meal in the Asaville Baptist Church fellowship hall.
