Albert Monroe, 90, of Iva SC, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Regency Hospital – Upstate in Anderson SC.
Born on January 19, 1936, in Evarts, Kentucky, Albert was the son of the late Frank and Virginia Kirk Monroe. He deeply loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed fishing, often saying, “I catch ’em, you clean ’em.” A man of strong faith, he was baptized, born again, and lived by his faith. He also loved Bluegrass Gospel and was the nephew of Bill and Charlie Monroe.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margie Mae Angel Monroe; his children: Louise Smith (Ben), Dwayne Monroe (Kim), Ricky Monroe, Randy Monroe and Tony Monroe (Tam); 5 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and his son at heart: David.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by 5 brothers, 6 sisters, and 3 grandchildren. Albert was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 12pm with Pastor Danny Wilson officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors at MJ Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
Visitation will be held prior to the service at the Mortuary on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 11:30am to 12:30pm.
The family will be at their respective homes.
