Velma Louise Bowman, 90, of Anderson, South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Linley Park Post Acute.
Born in Elberton, Georgia, on March 6, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Jewell Therman and Ida Bell Hambrick Jones and was married for 54 years to the late Charles “Charlie” Bowman.
Mrs. Bowman was an accountant by profession, a member of Forest Hill Baptist Church and the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by her son: Charles “Chuck” Bowman (Bobbilynn); sister-in-law: Frankie Poore; grandchildren: Brittany Bowman, Lacey Bridwell (Ross), and Trey Bowman; great-grandchildren: Londyn Roberts, Annalyse Roberts, Charlie Bridwell, and Bowman Bridwell; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Velma was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be missed dearly.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory, with Pastor Sam Duncan and Pastor Scott Davis officiating. Interment will follow at MJ Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
Visitation will take place prior to the service Monday at the mortuary from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The family will be at the home of her son and daughter-in-law: Chuck and Bobbilynn Bowman.
The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
