Carolyn Elizabeth Chatham Burdette, 88, of Anderson SC, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Callie and John Rainey Hospice House.
Born on July 10, 1937, in Carnesville, Ga; she was the daughter of the late Gordon Chatham and Willie G. Addison Chatham and the wife to the late John Thomas Burdette. Carolyn was a very devoted Christian, and enjoyed spending time in her bible studies, listening to the message of William Branham and attending Only Believe Fellowship. She instilled faith and a strong work ethic in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She truly lived for the Lord, completely selfless and was devoted to her family.
For many years, Carolyn worked as a cloth grader before becoming a licensed caregiver, where she treated everyone from family to strangers with equal care and compassion. She loved gardening and traveling from the coast to the mountains and was known to make frequent stops at Krispy Kreme, Skins Hotdogs and The Sweetery.
She is survived by her sons: James T. Burdette (Ginger) and John Daniel Burdette (Andrea); daughter: Betty B. Milford-Hankin (Mitchell); daughter-in-law: Angie Burdette; siblings: Mary Jane Chatham and Larry Chatham; she was known as MawMaw to her grandchildren: Whitney Velie (Clinton), Bethany Velie (Nathaniel), Britiney McCombs (Bevin), Dray Burdette (Emily), Blake Burdette (Kirstin), Hannah B. Cox ( William), April Milford Ward (Kevin), Alexander Milford (Melani), Thomas M. Burdette, Alexis Bianco (Anthony), Tanner Burdette, Rev. Christopher Cathey (Rachel), John Cathey (Amie) and Michelle Cathey Eaton (Matthew) as well as 31 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her children: Tommy W. Burdette, Angela B. Cathey and infant John Thomas Burdette Jr; beloved sister: Doris Jones, siblings: Roy Chatham, David Chatham, James Chatham, Kenneth Chatham, and her stepmother: Mildred Chatham.
A funeral service will be held at Sosebee Mortuary on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 1:30pm with her son Rev. James T Burdette officiating. A private burial will follow.
Visitation will be held prior to the service at the Mortuary on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 12pm to 1:30pm.
The family will be at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Andrea Burdette.

The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
