Furman ‘Paw Paw’ Cain, 85, of Iva, SC, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at his residence.
Born on April 4, 1941, in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Floyd and Phyllis Latham Cain and was married to Ruby Osborn Cain. Furman loved old cars, racing, and the Pittsburg Steelers. He enjoyed gardening and in his younger years, deer hunting.
Furman made a huge impact and was a role model for all his grandkids, specially making an impact in the life of his grandson, Bubba. He deeply loved all of his family and leaves behind many great friends that he loved dearly in Iva.
In addition to his loving wife of 67 years, Ruby Cain, he is also survived by his children: Cindy Nichols (Gene), and Brenda Cain Knight (Jason); sisters, Mary Ann Gentry; half-sister, Karen Gambrell; grandchildren: Benjamin Gentry, James Cain, Christie Cain, Kim Shelton, Ricky “Bubba” Snow, and Brandon Lollis; and great-grandchildren: Jared Gentry, Bella Hall, Jimmy Price, Jada Snow, Railynn Snow and Summer Snow.
In addition to his parents, he is also predeceased by a son, James Cain; brother, David Cain; and half-sister, Sharon Stovall.
Services will be held on Thursday April 30, 2026, at 3pm at Sosebee Mortuary officiated by Pastor Charlie Howell and Pastor Sam Duncan. Burial will follow at Iva City Cemetery.
The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends prior to the service at the Mortuary from 1pm – 3pm.
