Minnie Lou Howell June 2, 1945 - July 27, 2026

Minnie Lou Howell, 81, of Anderson, SC, passed away Monday, July 27, 2026, at Callie and John Rainey Hospice House.

Born June 2, 1945, in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Ottis and Bertha Mceilhannon Osborne and the wife of the late Johnny Howell Sr., with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. Minnie loved her family and enjoyed sitting on the front porch singing gospel songs, feeding the birds and squirrels, and worked as a spinner in the cotton mill for many years.

She is survived by her children, Kathy Howell Smith and her husband, James, and Johnny M. Howell Jr. and his wife, Missy; her sister, Ruby Cain; her grandchildren, Johnny Chad Howell; her great-grandchildren, Devin Howell, Destiny Howell, and McKenzie Kelley; her great-great-grandchildren, London Howell and Luca Moxley; and her beloved grand pup, a Pomeranian, Leroy.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Daryl Wayne Howell, and her grandson, Billy Joe Kelley.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Sosebee Mortuary, with Pastor Sam Duncan officiating. A private burial will follow at South Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held before the service on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the mortuary.

The family will be at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Missy Howell.

Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
