Richard Edward Haynie, affectionately known to family and friends as Edward, passed away peacefully at his home on July 27,
2026, at the age of 69.
Born to Richard and Fannie Mae Haynie, Edward lived a life marked by joy, creativity, and a genuine love for people. For many years, he shared his talent as a hairstylist, building lasting friendships with clients and coworkers throughout Ohio and South Carolina. More than simply styling hair, Edward had a remarkable gift for making others feel welcome, valued, and beautiful. His chair was a place filled with laughter, heartfelt conversations, and lasting connections.
Edward had a passion for music and especially loved the unforgettable voices of Cher, CeCe Winans, and Patti LaBelle. Their songs often filled his home and reflected both his vibrant personality and his appreciation for powerful, soulful music.
Above all else, Edward cherished his family. He was a devoted son, a loving brother, and a proud uncle whose kindness and generous spirit touched everyone who knew him. His greatest joy in recent years was his little girl, Daveigh Jayne, who brought endless smiles to his face and who gave him his favorite title of all, Uncle Pawpaw.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Fannie Mae Haynie, and his beloved brother, David Haynie.
He leaves behind his sister-in-law, Paulette Haynie; his niece, Katelyn Whitesides and her husband, Robert Whitesides; his treasured great-niece, Daveigh Jayne; along with many extended family members, dear friends, former coworkers, and countless clients whose lives were made brighter by his kindness and friendship.
Edward will be remembered for the genuine love he showed to everyone he met. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will continue to live on through the many lives he touched, the friendships he built, and the family who loved him so dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, July 31 at Sosebee mortuary and crematory in Anderson.
The family is grateful for the love, prayers, and support they have received during this difficult time as they celebrate Edward’s life and the beautiful legacy he leaves behind.
