Rooted in deep faith, Steve devoted many years of service to West Clayton Church of God in Clayton, NC, where he faithfully served as both a Sunday School teacher and Superintendent. In his final two years, he enjoyed fellowship and worship at Full Throttle Biker Church in Pleasant Garden, NC.
Steve had a passion for music, played the drums, and curated a vast collection of records and cassette tapes. He was also an avid NASCAR fan with a lifelong admiration for Richard Petty. Above all, Steve never met a stranger and left a lasting impression on everyone he spoke with. He will be remembered for his generous spirit and for always being ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Services will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at West Clayton Church of God located at 143 Short Johnson Rd. Clayton, NC 27520. Visitation will be held from 10am to 11am, with the service following at 11am in the church. Military Honors will be held immediately following the service outside on the church grounds.
A private burial ceremony will take place at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson, South Carolina.
City of Oaks Funeral Home in Raleigh, NC and Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory in Anderson, SC is assisting the family with arrangements.
