Evelyn McGuffin Byrum, 96, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2026. She was born on November 28, 1929 to the late James and Pearlie McGuffin.
She inspected cloth at Orr Lyons Mill until she retired. Evelyn attended Orville Baptist Church in Anderson. She was a loving housewife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Evelyn enjoyed yard sales with John, watching her soap operas, doing crossword puzzles, talking on the phone and sitting on the front porch. Most importantly she loved gathering her family at the dining room table for her home cooked meals.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband John Byrum, Jr., sons Tony and Danny and daughter Beth Hughes.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Holley and son in law Bill Wilt; grandchildren Jennifer (Nicole), Brandon (Katrina), Matthew (Kristi), AJ, Wendy (DJ), William, Jr.; and her great-grandchildren Chloe (Hayden), Daniel (Axel), Alyssa, Ryan, Alyson, Alex, Owen, Everett, Ellis and Avery.
Evelyn will be interned with her late husband of 72 years following the graveside service at the MJ Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery on Friday, October 9th at 1:00 pm.
Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
