Benjamin Stanley McCuen “Eskimo”, 69, the husband of Shelby Jean Johnson McCuen, went to his heavenly home on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Abbeville Area Medical Center.
Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late RA “Bill” McCuen and Erma Ruth Darby McCuen. He was a member of First Assembly of God Honea Path; he was a lifelong mechanic and ran McCuen’s Garage for many years.
Stanley had a heart of gold and would help anyone however he could. He loved his family fiercely, especially his grand and great grandchildren; he also loved his church family. He never met a stranger and was rarely seen without a Dr Pepper in his hand.
In addition to his wife of 51 years Shelby, he is survived by his daughter: Tonya Gilstrap (Joey) of Honea Path and Bonnie Patterson (Wayne) of Belton; brother: Jimmy Ray McCuen (Polly) of Honea Path; grandchildren: Matthew Gilstrap (Jesse), Trent Patterson, Kaylee Norris, Dalton Benton (Madelynn), Julieann Smith, Nathan Porter and Taylor Patterson; great-grandchildren: Dominick Gilstrap, Jolene Benton, Lilianna Benton and Westin Benton.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers: Lamar and Wallace McCuen; daughter: Christie Porter and a granddaughter: Nicole Benton.
Services will be held at 3pm on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at First Assembly of God in Honea Path with Pastor Bob Koenigsmann officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 2pm to 3pm. The family asks if you would like you to, wear green or flannel for Stanley.
The family will be at their home at 1330 Chiquola Ave, Honea Path.
Stanley’s message to his friends and family: Don’t be sad or cry for me, I am with Jesus!
The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory South Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
