Carol J. Whiten, ‘GaGa’, 87, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Stephans County, GA, on November 18, 1937; she was the daughter of the late Glenn Floyd Jordan, Sr. and Lola Bell Jordan O’Dell. She was married to the late Ralph F. Whiten. Carol was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church and a member of The Golden Rule Sunday School Ladies Class. She was an avid Tennis player at The Cardinal Country Club for years and won a state and national championship in the 1980s. Carol loved the Atlanta Braves and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandsons.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet ‘Jan’ Pitoniak; brother, Glenn Jordan (Deborah) of Toccoa, GA; sisters: Cheryl Haynes (Joe) of Eastanollee, GA, and Jewell Alexander (Charles) of Martin, GA; grandson, Sean-Michael Pitonak (fiancé Kendall Davern); and great grandson, Kaden Pitoniak; a beloved friend, Dwight W. Greene; and was loved by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to her mother, father, and husband, she is also predeceased by a brother, Joe Morris Jordan; sister, Elizabeth Adams; and grandson, Charles Richard Todd Pitoniak.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at 10am at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, officiated by her nephew, Rev. Scott Alexander.
The family will be at their respective homes.
Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory is assisting the family with the arrangements.
