Clifford Leroy Hawkins, 76, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Monday September 5, 2022, at his residence.

Born on September 8, 1945, in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Clifton Barnes and Margie Watkins Hawkins.

Leroy retired from Owens Corning Fiberglass, was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his Children: Greg Hawkins (Debbie), Krista Vorp (Michael), and Jason Hawkins (Heather), Sisters: Bobbie Jean Goldsmith, Joann White, Lena Morgan, and Sheryl Bowen; Brothers: Bill “Bub” Hawkins and Gary Hawkins; and Grandchildren: Everett Vorp, Stephen Franklin, Hayley Moore, Savannah, and J.P. Pressley.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his Brother: Charles Hawkins.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Friday September 9, 2022, at the Sosebee Mortuary South Chapel and will be officiated by Pastor Mike Wiles. Internment will follow at Old Silverbrook Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1pm to 2pm on Friday, prior to the service, at the mortuary.

The family will be at their respective homes.

The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory South Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.

    So sorry. I remember when I was little and we lived on West Franklin St., Leroy would always come over. He would always chase me and say, I’m going to kiss you. One day, I ran into the bathroom and put water in my eyes and said, Boo hoo hoo.. I heard him tell Mama [Ella Mae] Oh, I made her cry. That’s when I came out of the bathroom with water streaming down my face. He hugged me and told me he wouldn’t do it again. When he turned his back, I looked at Mama and grinned. She knew exactly what I had done. He always did this to aggravate me, He didn’t mean anything, he was only preten ding,, but boy did I feel special. This was one time that I out smarted him. When he went home Mama and I just had a good laugh. He always tried to play jokes on you. I never will forget this.
