David Lamar Murphy, 69, of Starr, SC, who was a beloved Father and Companion, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday March 25, 2023, at the Calley and John Rainey Hospice House.
Born on September 14, 1953, in Pendleton, SC, he was the son of the late Gladys Foster and Sam Murphy.
David is survived by his Significant Other: Mary Ann McCullough; Daughter: Misty Wooten (Chuck); Son: Shannon Murphy; Brother: Eddie Murphy; Sister: Mary Bailey; Grandchildren: Ansley Wooten-Hall (Alex), Morgan Wooten, and Ryley Wooten; Great-grandchildren: Alden, Ayden, Annalee, and Adalee Hall; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his Siblings: Sammy Gene Murphy and Jane Brown.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday March 29, 2023 at the Gethsemane Baptist Temple with Pastor Sam Duncan officiating. Internment will follow at South Lawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at David’s home but will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm Tuesday March 28, 2023, at the Sosebee Mortuary South Chapel.
The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory South Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
