Donald Reid Elrod “Hillbilly”

Hillbilly entered into his eternal home after a heroic fight.

He was born and raised in LaFrance SC and later moved to Branchville SC where he called home for the last 25 years. He was a Millwright by trade and his favorite things included cooking to feed anybody who would eat, fishing, hunting, and telling his stories. He of Baptist faith and attended Colston Branch Baptist Church in Branchville.

Hillbilly loved his family with all his might and was loved by everybody that knew him. He leaves behind his wife and best friend of 30 years Judy Elrod; daughters: Tonia Price (Jeff) of NC, and Tonya Lemons (Roy) of Orangeburg; son: Neil Elrod(Lee) of Seneca; grandchildren: Christopher Jackson (Jennifer), Zachary Tucker, Jacob New, Grace Price, Victoria Lemons, Lizzie Smith, Corey Dorsey, Rachel Gibson and Dory; great granddaughters: Abbie Dellinger and Abbigail Smith; sisters: Travis Morgan and Wanda Mann; nephew: Danny Morgan; niece Hope Bass; as well as numerous friends he called family.

In addition to his parents Clarence and Minnie Smith Elrod; he is preceded in death by a son, Timothy Elrod, and sister, Evelyn Richey.

The family would like to extend gratitude to a very special person Megan McCormick who cared for Donnie during his illness and who became our family.

Visitation will be held in Branchville on Monday February 7,2022 form 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.

A graveside service will be held at 2pm on Thursday February 10, 2022 at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Shawn Hanks officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church cemetery on Thursday, February 10, 2022.

Ott Funeral Home in Branchville will be assisting the family with the visitation in Branchville.

The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory South Chapel is assisting the family with the graveside service.
