Donald Karl Schaffter December 30, 1946 - September 22, 2025

Donald Karl Schaffter, 78, of York, SC, passed away on September 22, 2025.

He will be lovingly remembered by his four children, six grandchildren, many friends, and extended family.
Don was an electrician and owned his own business for many years. This was a trade he took great pride in and practiced with skill and integrity.
A lifelong car enthusiast, he could often be found tinkering under the hood, talking shop with friends, or admiring classic models that reminded him of simpler times.
Those who knew him will remember a man who was as quick with a smile as he was with a solution, someone who could light up a room — both figuratively and literally.
He will be honored and laid to rest at a private family memorial in Idaho.

Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory is assisting the family.

Even though our chapter together ended long ago, seeing the beautiful tribute our son James created for his father moved me deeply. Don loved James with all his heart and was so proud of the man he became — not only for his accomplishments, but for his kindness and compassion, which so clearly reflect his father’s spirit. I will always be grateful for the bond they shared and for the part of Don that lives on through our son.

I offer my deepest condolences on Don’s passing. Though our family’s paths took different directions, I always saw the deep and lasting bond between Don and James — a connection filled with love, pride, and unwavering support. Don was a man of great generosity and kindness, always ready to help those in need. May the memory of their enduring bond and Don’s loving spirit bring comfort to all who knew him.

Dad, you were the funniest, kindest man I knew. I’ll miss our talks, your jokes, and the way you lit up whenever we talked about cars. Thank you for everything you taught me. Love you always.
