Elmer “Red” Vaughn, aged 85, of Belton, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Rainey Hospice House, surrounded by his family.
He was the widower of Sylvia M. Vaughn. Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Vernon F. and Carrie G. Vaughn. He retired from the textile industry with over 50 years of service, having worked at Peerless-Milliken, Haynesworth and Blair Mills. He was a member of Barkers Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are his daughters: Cheryl (Jeff) Bannister of Belton and Shannon (Brad) Haynes of Honea Path; grandchildren: Hope Bannister and Alivia Vaughn of Townville, Trent (Taylor) Bannister and Lauren (Cody) Gilliam of Belton, and Jennifer (Tony) Saunders of Westminster; and great-grandchildren: Drake Bannister, Jensen and Emorie Gilliam and many nieces and nephews who considered him their favorite uncle.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sons: Donnie Vaughn and David Vaughn; his brothers: Edgar, Herbert, Furman, Bennett, Jim, Reuben, and Homer; and his sister: Rachel Bagwell.
Services will be on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Sosebee Mortuary South Chapel at 1:30pm. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00pm to 1:30pm.
The family will be at the home. Flowers are optional.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, Alzheimer’s Association, or Barkers Creek Baptist Church Seed Faith Fund.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Gentiva Hospice, Anmed Health 7 South, and Rainey Hospice Care for the outstanding care that they provided during daddy’s illness.
The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory South Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
