George Willis Bardecker left this Earth peacefully on June 27, 2018 at the age of 85.
Born in Newark, NJ on April 2,1933; he lived a long full life, always putting his family first. George was a Masonic brother through Atlas Pythagoras Lodge (Westfield, NJ) and a former Shriner at Salaam Temple (Fairfield, NJ). To give his family new opportunities, they moved to Sandy Springs, SC in 1979. George was known for his gruff exterior but giving heart and a self-proclaimed scrounger.
He is survived his wife of nearly 54 years, Sylvia Bambery Bardecker; two daughters: Sue-lynn Burton (Gerald) & Nettie-Lee Griffin (Wayne); five grandchildren: A.J. Burton, Will Burton (Katherine), Chris Burton, Kyle Griffin and Morgan Griffin; four great grandchildren: Skylar Burton, Shawn Griffin, Noah Meece, and Kash Griffin; as well as a faithful caregiver Deborah Fields.
In addition to his parents, Frank & Nettie Bardecker; he was preceded in death by two brothers: Irvine and Franklin Bardecker; and a great grandson, Jaylyn Chapman.
The family will receive friends at Sosebee Mortuary, South Chapel, on Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm. Services will follow at the Mortuary on Sunday at 3:30 pm with Masonic Rites.
The family will be at the home of his daughter, Nettie Griffin, 161 Old Dirt Rd, Anderson SC 29625.
