James “Stoney” Newton Burke, 79, of Anderson, SC passed away on Wednesday October 18, 2023, at Rainey Hospice House.
Born on May 17, 1944, in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Lankin Felix Burke and Beatrice Autry Burke, he was the husband of his loving wife for over 59 years Martha Greer Burke. James retired from Owens Corning after 35 years of service. He served his community as firefighter with Homeland Park and Broadway Fire Department.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Stephen Burke and Michael Burke (Amanda); sister: Linda Burke; grandchildren: Jamie Burke and Justin Rogers; god-daughter: Jala Brown.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his son: Jamie Burke.
The funeral will be held at Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory South Chapel on Monday October 30, 2023, at 3pm officiated by Pastor Tom Owen.
Visitation will be held prior to the service at Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory South Chapel on Monday October 30, 2023, from 1pm to 3pm.
The family will be at the home of Patricia Causey at 1007 Bolt Dr. Anderson, SC 29621.
Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory South Chapel is assisting the family.
