James W. McGill, Sr., 88, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at AnMed Medical Center.
Born in Anderson, SC on January 17, 1937; he was the son of the late William and Gertrude Freeman McGill, and married to the late Shirley Lollis McGill for 47 years.
James was devoted to his family and a proud military man. He retired from the US Air Force after 28 years of faithful service. He liked to work on cars and help those in need, including people he didn’t know.
He is survived by his sons: Walt McGill (Karen), Bobbie McGill, and Ernie McGill; two grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is also predeceased by a daughter, Lynn McGill; brothers: Glenn and Junior McGill; and a sister, Martha Gahr.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory from 11am – 12pm. A private burial will take place.
Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory is assisting the family with the arrangements.
