John Glenn Thrasher, Jr., 73, of Anderson, SC, passed away at his home on Thursday, March 16, 2017.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, loyal friend and a pillar of the community, loved by all. He loved the Lord, his church family and set a great example of how to live and die through Jesus Christ. He was a member of New Hope UMC. He was a founder of Scout Troop 280 and served as scout master for many years. John retired from BASF, was a Marine, Vietnam Veteran, Purple Heart recipient, and a member of the Marine Corps League and Honor Guard.
John was the son of the late John and Virginia Thrasher and was also predeceased by a son, Steven Glenn Thrasher and a sister, Glenda York.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 53 years, Martha Vickery Thrasher; daughter, Sandra Thrasher (Robert); grandchildren: Sean, Mary-Kathryn, Madison, & Mason Thrasher; brothers: James and Donald Thrasher; sister, Sharon Davis and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 1pm at Sosebee Mortuary, Iva, Chapel, officiated by Rev. George Donigian and Rev. Ron Nichols. Burial will follow at MJ Dolly Cooper Veteran’s Cemetery with Military Honors.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 3pm – 5pm at the Iva Chapel.
