John Thomas Hamby, 85, of Starr, SC, passed way on Friday, April 20, 2018 at his residence.
Born in Anderson, SC on July 22, 1932, he was the son of the late Jim Ed Hamby Sr and Tessie Pearson Hamby and the spouse to Joyce Loretta Hamby. John was a member of the The Freedom Center and owner and operator of Hamby Heating and Cooling. John’s relationship with his church, church family and pastor brought him great joy.
In addition to his spouse, he is survived by his children: Tommie Sue Walker and Dwayne Hamby (Kay); brother, Jim Ed Hamby Jr and many grand, great-grand and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his children: Tony McCoy, Joyce Williams and Crystal Dawn Hamby; sisters and brothers: Mary Bowers, William Ray Hamby and Edward Hamby.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 2pm at The Freedom Center with Pastor Phil Sears officiating. Private burial will follow the service.
Visitation will be held prior to the service at The Freedom Center on Monday, April 23, 2018 from 1pm to 2pm.
The family will be at the residence.
The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory South Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
