Lillian “Shorty” Smith, 91, of Starr, SC, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2026, at her residence.
Born on April 4, 1935, in Pickens, SC, she was the daughter of the late Jeff Dixie and Charity Smith. Lillian was a devoted Christian and prayer warrior. She worked at Ryobi from 1957 until her retirement in 1996, attended Assembly Church and Lifeline Mission, and cherished her family and her special chihuahua, Baby.
In addition to her loyal companion and best friend, ‘Baby’, she is also survived by her nieces and nephews, a special niece and caregiver, Debra McAbee.
In addition to her parents, she is also predeceased by her sisters: Virginia Sullivan and Geneva McAbee; and brothers: Lloyd Smith, Albert Smith, Melvin Smith, and William Smith (twin brother) whom both passed at infancy.
A funeral service will be held at Sosebee Mortuary on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 1pm. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday, August 21, 2026, from 12pm to 1pm at the Mortuary.
The family will be at the home of her niece, Debra McAbee.
The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
