Lois Virginia Gambrell Ellison, 87, of Honea Path, SC passed away on April 24, 2015 at Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Honea Path, SC, she was the daughter of the late Joe Alexander and Nora Smith Gambrell and was married to the late Edwin Van Ellison, Sr. She was retired in Textile Management, a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, Belton, SC, and was an avid SC Gamecock and Atlanta Braves fan.
She is survived by her children: Van Ellison, Jr., Phil Ellison (Myra), Kathy Hill (Donnie), and Kay Allred; brothers: Rufus, Aaron, and Smythe Gambrell; 2 grandchildren: Tracy Hill Jester (Tim) and Mandy Hill Shumaker (Adam); and 6 great-grandchildren: Austin, Griffin, Cameron, and Grayson Jester and Addy and Riley Shumaker.
In addition to her parents and spouse she is also predeceased by 10 siblings.
Services will be held at Shady Grove Baptist Church on Monday, April 27, 2015 at 2pm officiated by Rev. Daryle Hawthorne. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will be at the residence and will receive friends prior to the service at the church on Monday from 1pm – 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shady Grove Baptist Building Fund or a charity of one’s choice.
