Martha P. McAlister Elgin, 92, went peacefully to be with her Lord on Sunday, October 15, 2017, at Morningside Assisted Living in Anderson, SC.
She was a retired textile employee with Abney, Lowenstein and Spring Mills. She was a dedicated member of River of Life Church of God.
She is survived by two children: daughter Ann Buker (Larry) of Columbus, GA and son Ken McAlister (Loes) of Anderson, SC, two step-children: Kim Martin (Cecil) of Anderson and Stanley Elgin of Anderson, four grandchildren: Teresa Miller (Lance) of Columbus, GA, Bob Buker (Teri) of Logansvile, GA, Michelle Baldree (Jason) of Georgetown, SC, Brandon McAlister (Christy) of Gainesville, GA; eight grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, a brother, Melvin R. Patterson and sister, Miriam Deanhardt, both of Anderson, SC.
She is predeceased by brothers: Charles Patterson and Marvin Patterson of Anderson; a first husband, Harold D. McAlister, second husband George M. Elgin and step-daughter-in-law, Sandi Elgin.
The family will be receiving friends in the sanctuary of River of Life Church of God, 601 S. McDuffie St. Anderson, SC, Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 11am to 12pm and the memorial service will begin at 12 noon.
