Michael Gonzales, 82, of Mauldin, SC passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital.
Michael was a pilot and loved to fly single engine planes, served as a Guardian ad Litem for 10 years, and was a member and past President of the Military Officers Association of America. He was also a square dancer and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Michael retired from the US Military after 28 years having served in three branches, including the Air National Guard, Marines, and the Army Reserves.
He is survived by his wife: Valerie Gonzales; children: René Brown, Michael Gonzales, Melissa DuPlessis, Garrett Gonzales, and Matthew Wright; sister: Judy Allenbach; 19 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his daughter: Laura DuPlessis; parents; two brothers; and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm on Friday, November 15, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 200 Hayworth Drive Simpsonville, SC 29680. Burial will follow at MJ Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery at 3pm.
