Otis O’Dell Compton, 74, of Anderson, SC went to his Heavenly Home on October 23, 2016, peacefully at his home.

Born in Anderson, SC he was the son of the late Otis Thomas “Bo” and Helen Holmes Compton.

O’Dell worked most of his life in cotton mills, a job that he loved. He was an accomplished musician and played many instruments. He was a humble man and didn’t know how much enjoyment he gave through his music. He had many musician friends and actually played his beloved drums at a party in his honor only two months before he passed to his Heavenly Home. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and also by his two beloved rescue dogs, “Prince” and “M’Lady”.

He is survived by his loving wife Beverly; children: Scarlet Bellew, Tammy Wright, Otis James Compton, Joseph Dean Compton, Elizabeth Sullivan, and Patti Nixon; sister: Patsy Carnes (and the late Alton); brother: Steve Compton (Louann); loving grandchildren and great-granchildren; and two best friends, Dwain Spearman and Joe Turner who made his life so much better during his illness by always being there for him.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother: Roger Dean Compton and a daughter: Barbara Ann Compton.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 3pm at Sosebee Mortuary, Iva Chapel and will be officiated by Reverend Charles Holmes. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1pm – 3pm at the mortuary.

The family will be at the home, 545 Will Glenn Road Starr, SC 29684.
