Richard Allen Ward January 28, 1937 - May 22, 2023

Richard Allen Ward, 86, of Pendleton, SC, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023, at his home.

Born in Asheville, NC, on January 28, 1937, he was the son of the late Clarence and Jessie Ward. Richard was a Veteran of the US Army and loved to fish and tend to his garden.

He is survived by his wife: Judy Ward; son: John Ward (Tammy); stepsons: Eric White (Patricia) and Andrew White (Kimberly); daughters: Susan McGill (Billy), Sandra Parham (James) and Kim Brank (Scott); sister: Marie Roberts; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers: Jerry, Bobby and David Ward; as well as 6 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10am at Elk Mountain Baptist Church in Woodfin, NC on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, with Rev. Mike Woodard officiating. A graveside service will be held at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 962 Old US Hwy 70, Black Mountain, NC 28711 on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at 12pm with Military honors.

Visitation will be held prior to the service at Elk Mountain Baptist Church from 9:30am to 10am.

Mr. Ward will be open for public viewing on Saturday, May 27, 2023 and Monday, May 29, 2023 from 11am to 4pm at Sosebee Mortuary South Chapel.

The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory South Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
