Robert Durward Aubrey “Bob”, 91, of Starr SC, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at his residence.
Born in Washington, DC, on December 21, 1933, he was the son at heart and raised by the late Lester and Gladys Flory, the husband of 63 years to the late Phyllis Jean Lloyd Aubrey and he was a retired Veteran of the US Navy serving 20 years.
Bob was never afraid of hard work, loved the outdoors, classic cars, and his family. He loved his Lord and Savor, Jesus Christ, listening to good music and hearing his family play and sing.
He is survived by his children: Debbie Black (Mavin), Lester “Tonto” Aubrey (Lisa) and Bryan Aubrey (Margaret); brother at heart: Sammy Flory; grandchildren: Felicia Tapp (Jason), Ross Black (Andrea), McCormick Aubrey, Aidan Aubrey and Ava Aubrey; great-grandchildren: Brynnley Black, Gabriel Tapp, Elijah Tapp, and Isaiah Tapp. He is also survived by his best friend of a lifetime: Billy Ray Burke, they served in the Navy together, married sisters and he was more of a brother than a friend.
A funeral service will be held at Sosebee Mortuary South Chapel on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 2pm with Pastor Mitchell Looper officiating with Military Honors by the US Navy. Burial will be held at a later date at MJ Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
Visitation will be held prior to the service at the Mortuary from 1pm to 2pm on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
The family will be at their respective homes.
The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory South Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
