Roberta Garvin, 81, of Anderson, SC passed away November 9, 2016.
She was born in Greenwood, SC, the daughter of the late Edward L (Irene) Long. Roberta was preceded in death by her husband (Thomas Garvin) and two brothers (Roy Long and Joseph Pressly Long).
She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Erskine and a Masters from Clemson. She taught mathematics at McCants Jr. High and T.L. Hanna High School. Afterwards, she became a realtor. As an Active member of Young Memorial ARP Church, she served as Teacher, Deacon, and Elder. She was a member of the Anderson Sertoma and Mimosa Garden Clubs.
Surviving are two children (Thomas Garvin Jr., and Claire (Dale) Clark of Mt. Pleasant), three sister-in-laws (Mary Garvin, Miriam “Mickey” White, and Brenda Long of Piedmont).
A memorial service will be held at Young Memorial ARP Church on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at the church in the Rainey Room from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made of one’s choice.
