Sharlyn (Shar) Diane Hunter, age 65, passed away unexpectedly July 4, 2016 at her Anderson home. She leaves behind quite a legacy. Shar lived life large and embraced many challenges. She faced many obstacles in life, and she faced them head on. As a single mother at a young age, Shar worked to support herself and her daughters. As an administrative assistant in a man eat man world, she continued to put education first, instilling that thirst for knowledge in her daughters. She earned an Associates Degree from Empire State and a Bachelors Degree from UC Irvine.
Anyone that knew Sharlyn (Diane) knew that she had a laugh that was infectious. Whether it was watching family be silly, funny videos, or friends, no one will forget her giggle. She enjoyed many memories with friends and family. She was born July 29, 1950 in Bellefontaine, Ohio. She is survived by family and friends with fond memories.
Ms. Hunter was a member of Ruhamah United Methodist Church on Lake Hartwell. This was a culmination of a very spiritual life. She shared her learnings of spirituality and Native American beliefs with many.
She leaves behind many wonderful friends in Anderson. During her retirement years in Anderson, Shar served as past board secretary for The Anderson Academy of Music, volunteered with Hospice and Meals on Wheels, became an avid bridge player, supported The Calvary Home for Children, enjoyed card and board games on the lake with friends, and was one of the brightest and most well-read people you would ever want to meet. Her humor was contagious, her love for others extraordinary, her Christian spirit impeccable. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday August 24, 2016 at South Main Chapel and Mercy Center, 2408 South Main Street @ 10:00am with Rev Kurt Stutler officiating. Memorials may be made to South Main Chapel and Mercy Center or to the Humane Society.
