Valfrid Carl Lawson, 80, of Belton, SC entered into eternal rest on June 6, 2014.
The surviving spouse of Mayrae Moody Lawson and Kathleen Victoria Lawson, Valfrid was the youngest of ten children born to the late Simon Ferdinand Lawson & Catherine Hattie (Spear) Lawson of Buffalo, New York.
In addition to his late parents and late spouses, Val is predeceased by his brothers Vincent Lawson, Vernon Lawson, Victor Lawson, Verl Lawson, Virgil Lawson, Valdamar Lawson, Valdon Lawson; sisters Virginia Lawson Ryan & Velma Lawson Seversen; and a half-brother, Raymond Spear.
Entering the Marine Corp at 17, Valfrid was a career Marine and served in the Korean War, the Thailand Expeditionary Force and the Vietnam War where he was wounded.  Among his 17 decorations/medals/commendations, etc. Valfrid was a Purple Heart recipient.  After 21 years of honorable service he retired by reason of physical disability.  He served his country with dedication, discipline, and patriotism.
Valfrid is survived by 5 sisters-in-law, 29 nieces and nephews and the extended families of 35 nieces and nephews.  Since 2011, Val has lived with his niece, Vivian Cross, in Anderson, SC where he enjoyed spending time with family, his dog Maggie and enjoying his passion for carpentry making Birdhouses & Mailboxes.
Visitation for family & friends will be held at Sosebee Mortuary, South Chapel, 3219 South Main Street, Anderson SC, June 14, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a full military honors service at 11:00 a. m.  Interment will be in Crestwood Memorial Gardens, 914 US 21, State Road, NC, 28676, alongside Mayrae Moody Lawson on June 14, 2014 at 6:00 p.m.
The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory, South Chapel, assisted the family with arrangements.
