Pat Wilbanks May 17, 1940 - December 11, 2023

Pat Wilbanks of Pendleton, SC, 83, passed away Monday, December 11, 2023 at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.

Born in Oconee County on May 17, 1940, Pat was the son of the late Ray Wilbanks and Iva Wilbanks (Harris). The family relocated to Anderson County, where Pat grew up and eventually raised his own family. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 – 1962 as a Radioman, stationed in San Francisco, CA and Puerto Rico. He worked a long career as a supervisor at LaFrance Textile Mills/Mount Vernon Mills until his retirement in 1995.
Pat was happiest outdoors surrounded by nature. He would find any reason to be outside – whether it was working in his garden, birdwatching, golfing, exploring the mountains in his favorite truck, or just cutting the grass. He knew the meaning of hard work and how to appreciate the simple pleasures of life, and he instilled those same values and his love of nature in his daughters and granddaughters. He touched the lives of all those that knew him and will be dearly missed.
“Nothing can replace a father like you, but when you get to heaven, God will be lucky to have you too.”
Surviving includes his wife, Linda; daughters, Melanie Langford (Michael), April Pitts (Jabe) and Patti Wise (Dicky); granddaughters, Shealyn and Lindsay; great-granddaughter, Stella; brother, Paris; and sister, Gene. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marie.
No public service will be held, and the family will have a private service at a later date. The family will be at the home of April Pitts. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Richard M Campbell Veterans Nursing Home or Interim Hospice of the Upstate.
The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
