Helen Ayers September 4, 1929 - October 27, 2026

Date of Funeral

October 30, 2026

Helen Ayers, 97 of Anderson, SC left her earthly home and joined her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.

Mrs. Ayers, fondly known as “Granny” was predeceased in death by her beloved husband, Ansel Kay Ayers, as well as their 5 children, whom she loved dearly, and which remained in her heart throughout her life.  In her amazing 97 years of life, she grew a family of 48 members that spans five generations, including her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren, all of whom are honored to be a part of the legacy she leaves behind.

A life filled with love, faith, and kindness is a life that leaves a strong legacy, Granny leaves behind a lifetime of precious memories, countless acts of kindness, and a family who will forever be grateful for the love she shared.

Her faith was the foundation of her life. She dearly loved her church and found comfort, strength, and joy in her relationship with the Lord which guided the way she lived, the way she loved, and the way she treated others. Faith was not simply something she believed in; it was something she lived every day through the power of prayer. She was a powerful prayer warrior who faithfully lifted her family up to the Lord, praying over family gatherings, celebrations, important milestones, and every season of life. Her prayers were one of the greatest gifts she gave to those she loved, and the comfort of knowing she was praying for others was a blessing we will carry in our hearts forever. Though we can no longer hear her prayers spoken aloud, we will forever be strengthened by the faith she instilled in us and the example she set of trusting God in all things.

Granny had a giving heart and a natural desire to help anyone in need, not to exclude animals. Throughout her 97 years, she taught those around her that kindness matters, faith sustains us, family is a blessing, and love is best shown through our actions. Her legacy is not measured only in the years she lived, but in the lives, she touched and the goodness she brought into the world.

Her family will deeply miss her presence, yet they will find comfort in the memories she leaves behind and the lessons she taught.  Her life was a beautiful example of faith in action, as demonstrated in her 97 years walk with the Lord.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026 at Varennes Heights Baptist Church at 1:45pm. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church from 12:30pm to 1:30pm.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Hospice of the Upstate and her church family of Varennes Heights Baptist Church.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to either.

Well done, good and faithful servant; Matthew 25:21
