Alan E. Welty, 64, of Anderson South Carolina, formerly of Ligonier, PA. died Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Rainey Hospice House.
Born on January 5, 1951, in Latrobe, he was the son of the late George H. and Florence Vaughn Welty. Alan was a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, West Virginia, and had been employed as a salesman for several manufacturers during his career. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Ligoner. Alan was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by his family.
Alan is survived by his wife, Phylis Buckwalter Welty of Anderson, his sister Barbara Welty Lightcap(William) of Greensburg, PA, his brother George V. Welty(Susan), a nephew Douglas J. Welty(Jennifer), a niece Megan E. Welty and a great-niece Kate Welty of Ligonier. Alan is also survived by his canine children Benji and Mandy, and his feline children Lucky and Cuddles.
Funeral services to celebrate Alan’s life, will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 2pm at Sosebee Mortuary Downtown Chapel with Rev. Tom Turner officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the Downtown Chapel.

The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory Downtown Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
