Barbara Geraldean Crooks Smith, 80, wife of the late Carl Wayne Smith, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023, at Oconee Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
Born on September 21, 1943, in Seneca, South Carolina, Barbara was the daughter of the late Paul S. Crooks Jr. and Lillie Mae Young Crooks.
Barbara is survived by her son: Steven Wayne Smith (Beverly) of Seneca; daughter: Susan Smith Sloan (Wayne) of Seneca; sister: Louise Crooks Grant; 4 grandchildren: Rhett Douglas Smith (Haley), Luke Aaron Smith, Jessica Sloan Ellsworth (Kevin), Kayla Sloan Lee (Andy), and 5 great grandchildren: Ivory Rose Smith, Oaklyn Mae Smith, Grayson Michael Ellsworth, Elijah James Ellsworth and Raelynn Elizabeth Lee.
In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara is preceded in death by her brother Troy Crooks.
Per Barbara’s wishes, a private viewing will be held with entombment at Heritage Memorial Park in Westminster, SC on Thursday, November 16, 2023.
The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory South Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
