Bartley “Todd” Grooms, 57, of Williamston, SC went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
He was born in Greensboro, NC on September 23, 1967 to the late Eric & Judy Grooms. He moved to Greenville, SC prior to starting elementary school and lived there until moving to Williamston a few years ago.
Todd graduated from Clemson University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Todd was an avid Clemson football fan, and his favorite place was Death Valley on a crisp, fall Saturday with his fiancée and son (and any other family members he could convince to come) watching his Tigers play. He would crisscross the country (always driving), following his Tigers to away games, bowl games and National Championship games.
Todd owned his own retail business and loved negotiating a deal. His “uniform” was khaki shorts and a Clemson shirt year around. He was always willing to offer a helping hand and was never afraid of hard work. He was outgoing and friendly and of course, loved to talk about his Tigers. He had a contagious laugh and shared it often. He loved spending time with his family especially the love of his life, Misty as well as his many other family & friends and was often seen with his little helper, Wyatt, by his side. He always seemed to know his time with his son was limited and he tried to spend every minute he could with him. He loved westerns since he was young and one of his heroes was John Wayne.
In addition to his parents, Todd was predeceased by his Grandparents/adoptive parents, Doris & Berry Grooms, his brother, Jason Grooms and special Uncle & Aunt, Earl & Sandra Riddle.
Todd is survived by his loving fiancée of the home, Misty Thornton; their son, Wyatt Grooms; Stepdaughter, Asia, Granddaughter Everley, Aunt Janis Grooms Harkey and Nieces/cousins Angela Day (Buddy), Shelly Snipes (Joel), Maegan Pauley (Daniel) and Nephews Craig Day (Katie) and Blaine Snipes (Allie) and Colt, Caysin and Jayden.
Celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, June 11 at 3 pm at Unity Presbyterian Church 2215 Highway 86 Piedmont, SC. The family will hold visitation after the service.
In honor of Todd, the family will be wearing shorts (because you never saw Todd in anything else even in the dead of winter!) and Clemson shirts. Friends attending services are invited to wear their Clemson colors/shirts if you wish.
