Robert E. “Bobby” Pruitt Jr, 69, of Pendleton, SC passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Rainey Hospice House.
Born on November 8, 1949 in Anderson, SC he was the son of the late Robert Evans Pruitt Sr and Jimmie Pruitt, and the husband to Betty Ann Pruitt.
Bobby joined Pendleton Volunteer Fire Department in 1967. He served a total of 54 years at the station, acting as Captain, Assistant Chief, Chief, as well as serving on the Anderson County Fire Chief’s Advisory Board. Bobby was also a member of the Masonic Lodge 34 in Pendleton and was a large contributor to the community where he mentored numerous people.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Timothy Pruitt, Chuck Thomas, Kristi Romero, Jason Thomas, Chris Pruitt, Amanda Pruitt, Nicole Brown, and Anthony Hamby; siblings: Jimmy L Pruitt, of Hickory, NC and Laura Pruitt Brown, of Oak Island, NC; 22 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Public viewing will be held on Friday, August 9, 2019 beginning at 9 am, the family will receive friends from 12 pm – 1 pm at Homeland Park Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, August 9, 2019 at the Church and will be officiated by Reverend James Strickland. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Firefighter’s Rites.
The family will be at Pendleton Fire Department.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pendleton Fire Department.
Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory, South Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
