Charles ‘Sonny Boy’ Kay, 90, of Honea Path, SC, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at his residence.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was married to the late Lillie Mae Kay. Sonny Boy was a member of First Assembly of God, Honea Path, SC and with his late wife Lillie Mae were members of the Gospel group the Earl Hughes Singers.
He was a veteran of the US Army having served during World War II as a medic and was awarded the Silver Star for his participation in the invasion of Normandy.
He is survived by his daughter: Judith Kay Campbell (Daniel); 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at noon on Monday, July 7, 2014 at MJ Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors by the Campbell Patriots.
Sonny Boy will be available for viewing Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Sosebee Mortuary, South Chapel, from 9am – 5pm.
The family will be at the residence.
The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory, South Chapel, is assisting the family with arrangements.
