Doris Alewine Smith “Me-Maw”, 87, of Antreville, SC, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2019 while under hospice care in her granddaughter Chandra Bowie’s home from complications related to a hip replacement, she passed peacefully.
Born on May 22, 1932, in Iva, SC, she was the daughter of the late J.D. Alewine and Vera Hall and the wife to the late Thomas Alvin Smith. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist church; a lifelong resident of the Antreville Community, where she was known and loved to all as Me-Maw. She was a loving wife, mother, Me-Maw, sister, and aunt, she loved good food, cooking and spending time with her family.
She is survived by a son: Thomas “Steve” Smith; daughter: Pamela McConnell; granddaughter: Chandra McConnell Bowie (Chad); grandsons: Shawn Smith and Kaleb Smith (Marissa); great grandchildren: Austin McCrary, Erin and Brittney Bowie, Brent and Chelsea Smith; great-great grandchild: Alexis Marie Wood; sister: Marion Cain; special nieces: Cathy Taylor and Brandi Perez (Angel).
In addition to her parents, and husband, she is predeceased by a grandson: Scottie Smith.
Visitation for Me-Maw will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Emmanuel Baptist Church from 5pm to 7pm.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at Emmanuel Baptist Church at 4pm, officiated by Helen Davis and Rev. Tommy Alewine. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Angel, Christian, Eric and Charles Perez, Tyler Herndon, John Kellett, Trent Wilson.
The family will be at her home.
The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory South Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
