March 2, 2023 at 5:39 pmI live right up the street from Van and talk to him on a regular basis and didn’t know he had passed until I read the obituaries in the paper this afternoon. I think it was Friday when I talked to him last and he seemed fine, for a person our age at least. I’m gonna really miss him.

August 21, 2023 at 4:33 pmHi Ellison Family,
This is Jennifer, Susan’s daughter. I am so so deeply saddened to discover he has passed. Van was every bit of a father to me as anyone could be. He took care of me and kept me safe more times than he probably should have. He is one of the most incredibly intelligent and selfless people I’m
convinced I will ever know!! I wish I had known sooner. I had just spoken with him in January via text. He promised me he would give his sister Cathy my number in case of emergency. But I can hear him now, “Nah, I didn’t want to bother anyone”. Van, I love do very much!!! You can stop making monthly trips to Momma’s gravesite and now visit with her in our Father’s Kingdom for eternity!!!
