I am sorry to hear of the loss of my classmate and friend. I have many fond memories of our time together at Abbeville High School. Coon was a good punter and he had hang time before we knew what that was. He will be missed by many and certainly by the class of 1964. RIP my friend…

Greatly saddened when I heard of Coon’s passing. I have struggled with the right words to say. At minimum, he was one of a kind. I can never remember walking away from talking to him that I did not learn something or laugh. There have been many times, that someone has asked me about one of Skeeter Simpson’s stories and wondered if it was true. I would always say “well if you want to know what really happened, ask Coon.” He would give you the straight story along with the lesson that could be learned from what happened. Coon was family, friend, teacher, coach, and a GOOD MAN!! Go rest high Coon, you have earned it. You will forever be in our hearts.
