Frank E Ray III July 6, 1940 - August 2, 2023

Frank E Ray III, 83, of Townville, S.C., formerly of Kerhonkson, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Frank was born in Ellenville, N.Y., on July 6th, 1940, to the late Frank E Ray Jr and Elizabeth McCartney Ray. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years: Madeline Mesceda Ray; his sister: Susan Ray Kahn and brother-in-laws: Donald Mesceda, Michael Bazinet and James Mesceda.

Frank is survived by 5 children: Shawn Ray and his wife Ginger, Tracy Ray-Hastings and her husband Blaine, Randy Ray, Daniel Ray and his wife Kim, and Christopher Ray; his brothers: Robert Ray and his wife Carol and Gregory Ray: sisters-in-law: Jeanette Mesceda Bazinet and Angela Mesceda and a brother-in-law: Leslie Kahn. He is also abundantly survived by 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.

Frank served in the United States Air Force from 1959-1965. He served as an Airman First Class and was an aircraft mechanic working for the US Military Transport service flying combat cargo during the Vietnam era. During this time, he received several honors as well as a Good Conduct Medal.

Frank had passion for his family, woodworking, the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He found immense joy hunting and in spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, they are what made him truly happy, along with his dog Bella.

A memorial service will be held at Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory South Chapel on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 4pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in his honor to the Richard Campbell Veterans home in Belton, S.C.

The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory South Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
