Ila Mae Powell ‘Tootsie’, 77, of Starr, SC passed away on March 30, 2014 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
She was the daughter of the late Columbus and Mattie Lou Hicks Gary. She was a charter member of Unity Baptist Church and the Owner/Operator of Gary’s Café.
She is survived by her husband Leroy Powell; sons: Gary Powell (Christi) and Eric Powell (Kellie); daughters: Jan Trotter (Mike) and Donna Jewell (Mel); sister Joyce Williams; 9 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 5 pm officiated by Dr. Rudy Gray and Rev. Roger Kindrick at the South Chapel of Sosebee Mortuary. Burial will follow at New Silverbrook Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday at the Mortuary from 3 pm to 5 pm.
The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory, South Chapel, is assisting the family.
