James Paul Short, 92, of Belton, SC, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at his residence.

Born on March 13, 1930 in Cleveland, NC, he was the son of the late Jack and Iver Brackett Short and married for over 39 years to Glenda Murray Short. Paul was a godly husband, father, and grandfather. He also believed in his country and showed that support by serving during the Korean War in the US Army. He was retired from Roadway Transportation in Greenville, SC.

He is survived by his children: Monty Short (Vickie), Mike Short, Tim Short (Kathy), Destiny Rhoden (Robert), and Kristy Epps (Donnie); brother, Robert Short; sisters: Madeleine Biggerstaff and Mary Mize; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by a son, Shane Short; granddaughter, Jamie Martin; grandson, Austin Rhoden; siblings: Lee, Gene, Johnny Short, Georgia Roach, Mae Rubel, and Betty Brooks.

Paul will be greatly missed by the staff at his favorite restaurants and his friends and neighbors in the community.

Services will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 12pm officiated by Pastor Robbie Robertson at Trinity Baptist Church, Williamston, SC. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Belton, SC.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday at Trinity Baptist Church from 10am to 12pm. As well as following the graveside service on Wednesday at Cheddar Fire Dept., Hwy 20, Belton, SC.
