James Richard Hilley, Jr., known as ‘Junior’, 64, of Starr, SC, went to walk with the Lord on Friday, February 27, 2026 after a battle with a longtime illness.
Junior was known by his strong opinions. He was always right, never wrong, and he let you know it. He never met a stranger as he made friends wherever he went. Junior loved his job as a truck driver and heavy machinery operator. He worked until his health forced him not to.
Junior loved his son, James Travis Hilley (wife, Patsy); his grandsons: Isaac and Bryson Hilley; and his ‘boo boo’, Tina Willoughby. They each held a special place in his heart.
He is also survived by his sister, Connie Gable Hilley, niece Carla Simpson, and nephew Brandon Simpson.
He is predeceased by his parents: James R. Hilley, Sr. and Bessie Mae Hilley; and sister, Teresa Lynn Simpson.
Junior’s final wishes were to have a private service and the family will honor those wishes.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Iva Post Acute for their loving care, especially Kim, Shekia, and Tish.
Junior was loved by many and will be deeply missed. May he rest in peace.
