James W. “PaPaw” Vollrath, 80, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, August 5, 2016 at Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Danielsville, Ga, he was the son of the late Howard and Worther Mae Clark Vollrath, a Veteran of the US Army, serving with the 82nd Airborne, a charter member of Middleton Rd Baptist Church and retiree from Clark Schwebel Fiberglass.

He is survived by his loving spouse of 58 years, Joann Gillespie Vollrath; his children: Kenny Vollrath (Sandra) Cathy Fortner (Tommy), Stanley Vollrath (Donna); brothers: Paul and Edgar Vollrath; and sister: Sarah Beauchamp; grandchildren: Chris Fortner (Lee-Ann), Zach, Clarissa, Kayeley, and Clark Vollrath; and great-grandchildren: Ans-lee, and Hunter Fortner.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his siblings: William, Mary Ellen, Howard and Johnny Vollrath, Ruth Whitlow, Inez Bowers, Mattie Lou Stovall, and Patsy Busby; his beloved grand-daughter (Baby Girl) Brittany Marie Fortner.

Funeral services will be held at Middleton Road Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 1pm with Rev. Butch Moore, Brother Stanley Vollrath and Rev. Glenn Vollrath officiating. Burial will follow at MJ Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery with Military Rites.

Visitation will take place at Middleton Road Baptist Church on Monday, August 8, 2016 from 6pm to 8pm and on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 from 11:30am to 1:00pm.

The family will be at the residence.
